The one where a ring is presented

Boyfriend and I just finished watching Pride and Prejudice

(yes, the 6 hour version...don't worry, we watched it in increments...I didn't want to overwhelm him too much for the first watching)

And he totally loved it!!

He is such an amazing boy

Seriously

I think I'll keep him

We've also been watching Dr Quinn

And I haven't heard him complain once

He is most definitely a keeper

Speaking of Boyfriend...

I have a story to tell you about me and him one of these days

Speaking of Boyfriend again, I think it's time to use a different name for him on the blog

I could call him Texas, cause he's from Texas

I could call him by his last name, but it's a little bit of a complicated name

His first name is just too boring and unoriginal

(not that I don't like his name...I just like giving him a nickname for the blog...)

All of the other every day pet names?

(you know, sweety, sweetheart, babe, love, dear, honey, etc...)

That's just a little bit...I don't know

Not for the blog

I could call him Novio

But not everyone speaks Spanish

Same with just about every other Spanish pet name I can think of

Hmm....

Let's see....

Well, I guess...

I suppose I could call him Fiance

:D

Yes, my friends, you read right

F I A N C E

Boyfriend finally proposed

Which makes him Fiance

:D

I am an ENGAGED woman!!

I can hardly believe it

It still doesn't feel real

It throws me off to look down and see the ring

Although, my finger is getting more used to having it on than the opposite

So, we had plans to drive up to Salt Lake on Wednesday

And while we were up there we went and saw Spider-Man on the big IMAX screen

I had wondered if he was going to propose, but I didn't want to get my hopes up, so I tried not to dwell on it

But every time he said something like "Hang on, there's something else" or went to reach for his pocket or anything like that, I would get butterflies in my stomach

And my hands would get clammy

And my initial reaction was to hide

Why?

I have no idea

So, after the movie we drove over to Temple Square and ate dinner at a quaint little restaurant

During this dinner he had made a comment about still needing to go home to get his work stuff all gathered together

And at this point I had decided it wasn't going to happen

Because he works at night, it makes things really difficult

It was 7:30 at this point and we still had to drive home, which is almost an hour drive

And he usually leaves for work at about 9:00

So it didn't feel like there would be enough time for much of anything

Afterwards we decided to walk around the square for a few minutes

Mostly because we always do when we drive up to Salt Lake

The only real difference this time was I felt him leading me purposefully to certain areas, as if he was trying to find a certain spot

Which made me think maybe it really would happen

Unfortunately no one else got the memo about us wanting to be alone

Because there were a lot of people around

So it was kind of hard to find a spot to be alone

Finally we found a nice quiet spot by a nice little flowing river

As soon as he said "Come on, let's go sit down and rest for a minute"

It felt like a jar of butterflies had been released in my stomach

And I felt like I was going to hyperventilate

Why I was so nervous I have no idea

Because it was the obvious next step in our relationship

I think I was just hyping it up in my head more than it needed to be

Or maybe I'm just an easily made nervous person

Who really knows with me

Anyway....

I was super nervous, we sat down and started talking about something

And I was looking at the ground thinking "There's no way he's going to propose, the ground is dirty and he won't want to kneel on that"

And then I saw an ant

And you would think I had never seen an ant by the way I got so excited and started talking about it

You see, when I get nervous, I tend to talk a lot about unimportant things

And it's hard for me to shut myself up

So I started talking about ants

And he, being the good boyfriend that he is, humored me and talked about them with me

After an hour of me droning on about ants (okay, it wasn't really that long...it just felt like it...maybe more like a minute...) I realized what I was doing and forced myself to shut up

After giving me a few seconds to see if I was really done, he stood up and started to turn around to face me

And oh did that start up the butterflies even more

And me, being the ever romantic girlfriend, yelled out "No, no don't!!"

...yes, I really said that...

I don't know why

Fortunately for me and any future posterity we may have together, he didn't listen and proceeded to take something out of his pocket

Something that looked like a piece of paper

And he said "I couldn't really carry the whole thing around with me, soooo..."

I assumed that it was a picture of the ring and that was what he was going to propose with...and I was so not cool with that

Lucky for me, it ended up being an envelope that he had put the ring in so it didn't look too obvious that he was carrying around a big ring box

So he got down on one knee and proposed

I, of course, said yes

And then proceeded to get bummed out because we had to leave immediately so he could get to work even close to being on time

I went from being on cloud 9 to cloud 4

Until he told me that he would not be going into work that night

I immediately shot up to cloud 20

He told me he wanted to get me flowers, but didn't want it to look that suspicious

So I, being the gracious girlfriend, told him that I would totally let him get me flowers on Friday or Saturday

Speaking of which, I should kindly remind him about that....

I sent out a text to some friends and family friends the next day letting them know, and it shocked me at how many "Congrats!! Who are you??" I got in response

So, it is official

No one knows who I am

haha

Oh wait, we're official too ;)

The wedding date is going to be Dec 7th

In the Manti Temple

And the reception will be held in our barn here at work that used to be where our store was that we've turned into a reception center

It's free, so why not?

Hmmm...what other important thing is there...

Oh, yeah, silly me

You probably want to see the ring :)

Boyfriend picked it out all on his own

I told him what I liked, and he went with his judgment

I have to say, he did a pretty ding, dang, dong good job

It has a matching wedding band to go with it that is gorgeous

I would show you that, but Boyfriend is a stickler on leaving that at his house

Anyway, I'm really excited to be able to actually plan for the wedding/reception

I've been thinking of things and mentally coming up with ideas for awhile now

But it's nice to be able to be vocal about it

The colors are dark purple (like plum), yellow, and silver

I know, you were all thinking I would choose hot pink and neon green

But I decided to go against the norm of my life and choose purple and yellow

;)

Anyway, that is the story of my becoming engaged

Boyfriend now = Fiance

And now I must go and play around with the invitations we're making

After all, I only have about 5 months left

That's hardly any time at all :p

**As an update...still no flowers. He better get me a HUGE bouquet next week!!**

Manda we are so excited for you. Everything made sense, but the title. Why did you call it "There and Back Again"? I don't really get the Hobbit reference.
The ring is beautiful. Good job! We are so happy for you.

Aww congrats! I am so excited for you! I was getting so impatient as you were listing all the things you 'could' call him. I thought that's what you were getting at, but then I thought maybe you were playing a trick on us. I'm glad you weren't. Congrats again!
